The baton can be opened with a flick of the wrist or by pulling on the end. It is closed by pressing the release button on the back of the handle then the sections can be retracted. The impact energy is absorbed by the slip rings at the transitions between the individual sections. Optimal grip through rubberized grip.

The sliding rings ensure that the baton opens and closes silently (no metal scraping noise, no clatter).
