AGM Taipan TM15-384 Thermal Imaging Camera

The AGM Taipan TM15-384 is a universal thermal imaging camera from a specific segment of the market. The Taipan series is designed for users who want a step higher than entry-level quality, but at the same time do not want to spend thousands of dollars. This thermal camera has a 384x288 detector (12μm), a 15mm lens and a large field of view of 17.5 degrees. This makes the Taipan TM15-384 suitable for general observations at short and medium distances.

Internal features.

The device has a 50hz refresh rate so provides real-time imaging. This means you can easily track moving targets without delay. The thermal image is projected on a full-color display with 1280 x 960 pixels. The viewer has an optical 1.5x magnification and a digital zoom of 2x, 4x and 8x. Thus, your maximum total zoom is 12x.

Thermal image range.

The thermal camera can detect objects up to a distance of 708m. This is the distance that you see "something" and should not be confused with the identification distance (only upon identification can you determine e.g. whether the person you see is male or female). The field of view is 17.5 by 13.1 degrees. Thanks to the automatic focus, you do not need to continuously focus manually.

Convenient functionalities

You can have the environment displayed according to your preference using four color palettes: White hot, Black hot, Red hot and Fusion (also known as Rainbow). The thermal imager also features a so-called Hot Track function that instantly "points out" animals/people with cursor. You can also measure the approximate distance to people, objects or animals via the "Distance measurement" function. You can also adjust contrast and brightness in five levels.

Recording, sharing and live streaming

With the Taipan, you can take endless recordings. Your photos and videos are automatically stored in the internal 8GB memory. Using a Wi-fi connection or via the included USB-C cable, you can easily transfer your recordings to your smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc. The Taipan series also allows you to live stream images to your smartphone or tablet. For this you need the free T-Vision app, available for iOS and Android. This allows you to remotely control the thermal imaging camera and also make recordings. Connection is via Wi-Fi.

Physical features

Thanks to its IP67 certification, you can use the device in many (weather) conditions. This is because the viewer is waterproof, dustproof and can withstand a 1.5m drop onto concrete. Even in extreme temperatures (-20°C to +55°C), you can use the camera effortlessly. The AGM Taipan has an internal Li-ion battery with an operating time of up to 7.5 hours. A standby mode is also available to extend the operating time even further.
